Dena Lock, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Lock was born in Minnesota and while growing up, lived in Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, Texas and Tennessee. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Nevada, Reno. She then worked in the veterinary field as a technician for 4 years while applying to veterinary school. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her love of college football and the Tennessee Volunteers began here! During her time at Tennessee, she also realized her affinity for feline medicine and was the president of the student chapter of the American Association of Feline Practitioners for 2 years.

After graduation, she worked for a nationally recognized feline practitioner for 2 years before joining Cross Timbers Animal Medical Center in 2004. She truly enjoys that this has allowed the diversity of getting to work with dogs, in addition to being able to continue her passion for cats. She is proud of the fact that Cross Timbers became a fear-free certified hospital in 2018. The entire staff works hard to provide a stress-free environment for all pets that have the pleasure of caring for. A future goal is to become ABVP certified in feline medicine. She is USDA accredited and has experience in international pet travel and helping clients who are traveling or moving overseas with their pets.

Dena and her husband, Bevin were married in 2006 and in 2011, they had their daughter Zealyn and in 2012, their daughter Tinzley. The girls keep them active with gymnastics classes and they love attending school in Lantana where they also reside. The family loves to travel and they find as much time as possible to go to New Zealand where Bevin’s family lives and he grew up. They share their home with multiple felines and their dog, Tenny (Tennessee).

Dr. Lock loves working with and getting to know patients and clients and forming bonds with them. She considers her clients and the staff at CTAMC her extended family.
